Happy new year to you.

I left Conile on 27th Dec. heading for Malaga. Heading south towards Tarifa it started to get very windy and judging by the number of wind turbines in the area this must be normal.
Tarifa harbour - could have taken a day trip to Tangier - didn't.
Straights of Gibraltar with North Africa.

Gibraltar in the distance - and from what I've heard about it, that is near enough.
Then North into the Costa del Sol. I'm not sure now what I expected but I was disappointed.
It seemed as though there was a continuous built-up area, along the coast, from Gibraltar to Malaga.
... and the weather turned bad So I went to the East of Malaga which was nicer - wandered around for a few days till the weather improved.
View of the snow covered Sierra Navada.
...and I ended up at Torrox Costa (not a cafe!) for a week.

New years day on the beach.
Did a bit of sight seeing too - lovely coastline

White towns - this is Salobrena, with a Moorish fort at the top of the hill

...with spectacular views

...and finally some sunsets:

I'm leaving Torrox today and heading further East. I'll let you know where I end up.

Your weather doesn't look so good - it's nice and sunny here in Berkshire. PS - We're off to Gibraltar in 3 weeks for a 40th party - hope it's better than you describe.

You just can't get enough of those Moorish forts, can you ?

Graeme - sorry about the Gibraltar comments. Still, on the bright side you'll be able to get cheap cigarettes.

MikeW - That's pretty good, even for you. And it's nice to see that you can still smile through adversity.
